About The Role
Laser City is now recruiting a General Manager!
Laser City is Calgary's newest Laser Tag facility - also offering Mini Paintball (paintball designed specifically for 8 - 12 year olds)
We’re hiring a General Manager who will have overall responsibility for management of the business, day-to-day delivery of our product, as well as continuous improvement of our product, processes and people. You’ll work directly with the owners with the assistance of the head office team.
We take pride in being an innovative and growth oriented business. We use the latest technology and ideas to make our employee and customer experience the best it can be. You'll need to be comfortable embracing innovation, not someone who does it a certain way because "it's always been done that way."
The ideal candidate has been in a general manager type position before, leading a team of part time staff in a recreation, hospitality or retail environment. You must love working with kids - as they are our main customer!
You'll need excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, as well as the ability to multi-task and deal with many balls in the air. You must be able to smile in the face of adversity and be solution-oriented, not problem-focused.
This position comes with a ton of growth opportunities. The right person will master this role and then continue to grow with the organization. We have big plans for Laser City and Mini Paintball and are looking for people to take along for the ride!
Below is a wish list, not a checklist. We are looking for a super fun person to join our team, not a perfect list of check marks.
If you’re a little less experienced on a specific bullet point, apply anyway. We look at candidates, not just resumes.
Responsibilities
Hiring, training and motivating a team of 15-20 mostly part time staff

Previous Experience
Previously managed a team of part time staff in retail, recreation, hospitality or similar setting (essential)
Comfortable working in an environment full of children and their parents (you'll understand what this means if you've done it before...)

Very coordinated and doesn't let things "slip through"
Happy, friendly and outgoing with a positive "can do" attitude
Flexible and adaptable
Strong technology skills (everything uses computers, you must know how to use them well!)
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Basic DIY skills - we're in the kid-business, and kids break things that need a band-aid fix right away!
Sales experience would be an asset
Own transport required
Compensation
$48,000-57,000/yr depending on experience, company paid cell phone and laptop.
Not to mention all the free laser tag you can play!
This is a very communication-heavy role, so if you send us a generic email that you send to everyone else, well, that probably won't look good. Also, be sure to mention if you're a cat or a dog person. We don't care (much), but it's a good way to tell if you actually read the instructions.
